Five unexpected benefits of hypnotherapy

Elizabeth Lawrence hypnotherapist in the Peak District

When people hear the term ‘hypnotherapy’ they usually think of someone giving up smoking or overcoming a phobia and while hypnotherapy can be very helpful in these situations there are other benefits that you may not have considered.

Resetting your nervous system

When you’re under stress your body can switch into a fight and flight mode flooding your body with cortisol and adrenaline. Hypnotherapy gives your body a chance to settle down into a feeling of calmness and safety. The start of a hypnotherapy session with me involves you imagining you are somewhere beautiful such as a wood or a beach which supports this feeling of relaxation.

Getting back in touch with the real you

Life can be very busy and you may feel you wear many different hats. When this is the case it can be difficult to remember who you really are. Sometimes hypnotherapy can help you feel your real self, giving you the time and space to put you in touch with ideas and parts of you that may sometimes feel more hidden.

Improving your sleep

I encourage all my clients to listen to a relaxation track at night which really helps promote quality sleep and positivity. When your sleep is improved feelings of anxiety and stress can be reduced.

Boosting your mood

Trance is a natural mood booster. Clients feel better after a hypnotherapy session than they did before which is always great to see.

Increasing your creativity

Allowing your brain some down time through hypnotherapy (or meditation) allows your subconscious to work things through. This can help you feel more creative and may give you a fresh perspective.
