About me

Online and Derbyshire based hypnotherapist

I first discovered the power of hypnotherapy when I was in my late teens. My family had gone through a very difficult time following the death of my father and several other close family members. This coincided with my leaving school and life changing in other ways which made me feel that life was moving too fast and I couldn’t keep up.

I wanted to go on holiday with a friend but I was anxious about this. I wasn’t sure what to do.

My experiences with hypnotherapy

I came to hypnotherapy because I wanted to feel more confident about the changes I wanted (and had to) deal with. I didn’t really have any expectations. I didn’t want to go to counselling because I felt I understood the reasons I was feeling unsure.

The hypnotherapist I saw all those years ago helped me feel at ease. She explained that what I was feeling was normal which was very reassuring. Through hypnosis I was able to feel much calmer and more confident. It helped return me to the person I felt I was, before the shock of bereavement. It helped give me a sense of safety and through visualisation I imagined myself on holiday having a lovely time. This gave me the confidence I needed and I went on to have a wonderful holiday.

Hypnotherapy in pregnancy

I used relaxation tracks through out my pregnancies to prepare for the birth of my children. I found these helped promote a sense of calm and were a much looked forward to part of the day.

I continue to be a huge fan of relaxation and hypnosis tracks. Many people understand the benefits of meditation but find it hard. Sometimes a hypnotherapy track can be easier to follow because your mind has something to focus on. A relaxation track can promote a strong sense of physical and mental wellbeing. Listen to my relaxation track here.

Becoming a hypnotherapist

After a career in education and the charitable sector I took time out to have my children. As they grew bigger I began to think about my next steps. It was at this point I began to think of training as a hypnotherapist, as I remembered the positive experiences I had had. I researched courses and trained with CPHT, finally completing the independently verified Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma in 2020.

I am a member of the National Council of Hypnotherapy and the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. It is important to have the support of professional organisations who run regular training, and I also attend supervision.

I love to be able to help people access their own strength and confidence, just as my hypnotherapist helped me do all those years ago.
